2013 Events.

We will be adding our confirmed sessions for 2013 to this page over the coming months. Please see our Ethos and Events pages for a taste of what we will be doing again this year.

We will have the usual mix of environmental education, crafts, theatre and circus together with some of our regular contributors and will update this page as soon as we have firm plans.

This year we`re going to list the sessions that we are planning and decide the running order as the camp unfolds. So we will be running the following over the week as our bare minimum.

1. Natural model raft building and sailing on the river ( 2 sessions ).

2 .River dipping ( 2 sessions ).

3. Mini beast hunt.

4. Small mammal survey.

5. Guided bat walk.

6. Work on transforming last years willow tunnel into a psychedelic caterpillar. This session will be done in conjuction with sessions in the craft tent.

As always the theatre tent will be running for a full 6 days with the usual mixture of play for the day and more organized sessions for the older kids. All run under the watchful eye of Helen and ably assisted by the majical youth theatre crew.

Back again by popular demand, a full 6 days of circus and fire with Janie and the Pyro Pixies. Full itinary will be confirmed nearer the time and some of the fire sessions are weather dependent. Our usual mix of fire training culminating in the spectacular WEHEC fireshow on the final weekend. This all mixed in with gymnastic training and all manner of serious circus skills.

As ever we`ll have 5 full days of craft events along with an easy Monday afternoon session to keep the kids occupied whilst you set up. All run by Mima and Mary, with the help of some of our other regulars.

We try and do as many as possible of our craft sessions along the environmental theme and use as much recycled materials as possible.

This is our proposed timetable of sessions for 2013.

Monday p.m – Make buntings and milk bottle windowscapes to decorate the craft marquee.

Tuesday a.m – Clay and 3D modelling.

Tuesday p.m – Lanterns. Willow and paper / Jam jars with tissue paper.

Wednesday a.m – Loo roll totem polls.

Wednesday p.m  – Junk marionettes.

Thursday a.m – Masks and free painting.

Thursday p.m – Decorations to complete the willow tunnel and take home wool / fabric project.

Friday a.m – Story board drawing.

Friday p.m – Egg shell mosaics.

Saturday a.m – Nature mobiles.

Saturday p.m – Leaf print flags.

This year we have been offered a week of belly dancing sessions with Sophie. These will take place in the mornings in the party barn so we can make full use of the stage and the  P.A.

Once again Bruno will be running his ever popular animation sessions during the afternoons in the party barn. These really are great fun and have a new twist every time. Check out some of the previous results on the links page.

George is back with us this year running his impromptu music sessions. These take place at all times and in all venues and include drumming, harmonica, guitar, in fact pretty much any musical instrument you care to think of.

Again for 2013 we will have the trampolines and the victorian swingboats up and running. The trampolines can be open as often as you like with your help. We run 15 minute training sessions for parents willing to supervise, the more people that sign up the more we can open them. The climbing wall is now officially out of action and is now consigned to the history books. The mini double decker will once again be providing entertaining trips around the farm complete with it’s crew of brightly dressed conductors and bus stop crowd controllers.

Kenny will be taking charge of the party barn this year with the P.A and mix of soundsystems at the ready. This will give people the opportunity to try out jamming sessions so bring your instruments along. Scylla is also back with her projection systems so the 2 of them can hook up to provide multiple session opportunities as when. Watch out for some impromptu madness.

We have Kaz on board, a professional facepainter who will be doing regular sessions throughout the week in her little facepainting marquee.

We`re pleased to say that the twins Emma and Hannah are back this year with sessions from their new becoming native programme, with help from Shando who has been doing these kind of sessions for many many years. Programme of sessions to be confirmed.

Mima has also offered to run some guided meditation sessions in the same vain as those she currently runs in Cheshire.

So watch out for more info as the ideas unfold.

We are going with the idea of family entertainment for the evenings, we are planning a mix of bingo, karaoke, a quiz night and of course the talent show at the final weekend. If enough people get together with Kenny for the jam sessions we could showcase those as well. We are not planning a band this year as we have a full enough programme of events and the general feedback is that people prefer the family theme.

We will run the market day on Wednesday afternoon, anyone is free to bring their own stuff to sell whether it be clothes/ toys / camping equipment/ their own crafts or whatever. We  are looking at the possibility of bringing in an organic fruit stall for a day. We will also have Niki the herbalist with us that day selling a selection of her medicinal herbalist procucts.

We have have a session on the Wednesday with Niki, the medical herbalist who is resident at the Welsh botanic gardens. The day will include a wild medicine chest walk to collect ingredients, then a session to prepare and make some simple remedies with these. Will also include some natural card making for the younger kids. Niki will be able to offer short one to one consultations for a donation as well as bringing her own products for sale on market day.

Emmanuel will be with us for the last 3 days of this year`s camp. A native Ghanaian, Emmanuel has many years of experience with various forms of African drum and dance. See our links page for a link to his website.
